Would you like to immediately take control of your business and make the next 12 months your best ever?
The One Page Business Planning Workshop - 26th April 2010
Read on to discover how to create laser sharp focus on what’s going to make your business successful and deliver the rewards you want.
As you are no doubt aware the trading conditions would be regarded by many as ‘tough’. Yet despite this over the previous 12-months I have come across several businesses (some of them are our clients!) that are successfully bucking the trend and doing more business than ever. Although these businesses are all very different they all have one thing in common:
They focus on what gets results
Now, this may seem very simple but it’s not necessarily easy. To stay focused you need a successful system. A way to keep your eye on the ball and do what counts, despite all that’s going on around you.
I know from personal experience that it’s very easy to get distracted and the things that really matter often get pushed to the back of the queue. Things such as:
· Effective marketing
· Keeping in touch with your best clients
· Innovating new products and services
· Building relationships
· Developing your team
· Creating better systems
How good would your business get if you were to maintain a consistent focus on these kinds of activities?
The One Page Business Plan
Several years ago I came across the One Page Business Plan and used it for myself. At the time I had a thriving financial services practice but I wanted to pursue my passion for coaching and I said to myself, “To really succeed, you must have a process for managing complexity and making things as simple as possible,.”
The One Page Business Plan made a huge difference to me because it allowed me to keep in touch with what I wanted to accomplish but without taking significant amounts of time in planning. As such I was able to basically run two businesses side by side for over two years and make the transition as smooth as possible.
Several years on I continue to use the One Page Business Plan not only for myself but with my clients too. Running a business is challenging but I always say if it were easy everyone would be doing it! But you don’t want it to be more challenging than it really needs to be, do you?
I continue to be amazed at the number of small business owners who operate without a proper plan. How can anyone expect to get real results by just winging it? I’ve come across plenty of people who have managed a fair degree of success by keeping it all in their heads but as I’ve said to some of them, “I wonder how much more successful you’d become by using a proven process to grow your business?”
In this ‘tough’ economy you need every advantage you can get. When you create a One Page Business Plan for your business, which as you’ll soon discover, doesn’t take long at all, you take a huge, proactive step towards building the business you really want to create.
The five key questions
When you create your compelling One Page Business Plan you will be able to immediately answer five essential questions about your business. When you explore these questions you’ll make decisions that make profoundly affect the way you conduct your business. The five questions are:
· What are you building?
· Why does your business exist?
· What results will you measure?
· How will you build your business?
· What is the work to be done?
By answering these questions you will give your business a massive boost because all your energy will be going in the right direction rather than diluted through lack of focus or constant distraction. This will directly lead you towards:
· Making more money because you’re now focused on results
· Greater profits because you'll stop doing what doesn’t work
· Easier problem solving making you feel more satisfied
· Better time management so you use your time more effectively
· Improved communications so you build stronger relationships
· More satisfied customers so you get more recommendations
Exploding the myths about business planning
There are many reasons (excuses!) why most businesses don’t have a plan. For instance they believe:
· They take too much time to create (are you too busy to plan the future you really want?)
· They need to be long to be effective (it really can be all on one page!)
· They are only for obtaining finances (they can be used for this purpose but One Page Planning is primarily about building a better business)
· They are only for bigger businesses (failing to plan is planning to fail – whatever size of the business)
One Page Business Plans explode the myths and:
· Are quick and easy to create - just a few hours and it’s done
· Are highly effective because they are concise
· Make a complex process simple because it’s on one page
· Create alignment, accountability and results
· Work for any size business
Don’t just take our word for it because thousands of other business people are already experiencing the power of One Page Planning.
I read a lot of books and it was whilst reading ‘Re-Imagine’ by top business author Tom Peters that I came across the One Page Business Plan. Tom was using it himself and had this to say:
“The One Page Business Plan is an out-and-out winner.” That was good enough for me!
Since that time it’s been proved time and time again that when you go through the One Page Planning Process you take a step up and become more confident because you’re taking your business more seriously.
The One Page Planning Workshop
The great thing is that when you come to the One Page Planning Workshop you’ll get all the thinking done in one enjoyable day.
You’ll answer the five essential questions about your business and, experience a renewed sense of optimism, enthusiasm and energy about building your business.
One of the first powerful processes you’ll go through is called ‘Setting a Direction’.
I learned from top NLP trainer Dr. Christina Hall how important it is to set yourself up for success. We use a special process that not only makes you feel motivated on the day – you’ll continue to feel motivated and your motivation will build even more over time.
When you answer the five essential questions about your business you’ll experience a greater sense of certainty because you know where you’re going. It never ceases to amaze me what people can accomplish once you have all your energy flowing in the right direction.
The interview process is extremely powerful. The dynamic of another person asking you about your business is totally different to trying to do it alone. As a coach I know that you can get breakthrough results simply because someone is listening to you.
You’ll spend time on the five essential areas of a One Page Business Plan and be clear about the actions you’ll take to take your business forward. This alone will put you in the tiny minority of business people who really know here they are going and what they are building.
You’ll also learn from your fellow participants. Many past delegates have said this was one of the most powerful experiences for them. Learning how other people approach their business and to learn new ways of doing things.
You’ll also save time because you’re committing to getting this process done in one day. As one of our past delegates said "What I learnt in one day has saved me at least 3 weeks work!".
There’s a substantial discount when you to book early and so book your place NOW and get a BRILLIANT deal before the early-bird discount period ends.
